Fundraising... a lost cause

I love high school basketball.... except for one thing. FUNDRAISING! If there was any way around it, I would be the first one to abandon it. For the basketball team this year, I probably have to raise around 1,200-1,500 dollars. A lot of money, I know. And, our fundraiser isn't that easy. Every year we give out a basketball program at each home game. In this program we have information about the players and the team, including the schedule and other mildly important stuff. We also have advertisements in there. So we have to go around to businesses and ask them if they want to buy an advertisement in our program, or to buy a banner to put up in the gym. From experience, businesses usually aren't very interested in helping me out. I don't blame them either. I mean, we are in a recession and money is usually tight everywhere. So why would businesses want to pay money to have an advertisement that only a handful of people are going to see? I mean the main users of this program are the basketball kid's parents who want to see their son's picture.... Wish me luck... or send me money.
